I’ve always been told it is better to have more than you need of something rather than not enough.
In terms of collecting sports memorabilia and trading cards, I feel this is always the right move. I will always favor the collector. When it comes to the hobby, make sure the collector is always taken care of, and their interests are the priority. However, the age old question comes to mind, “but at what cost?”
The hobby arguably has never been more popular than it is today, and it has changed dramatically over the last few years. Collectors who collect will always be present, but the number of influencers, bad actors, and grifters within the sports collecting hobby is probably at an all time high. With this comes the addition of new money being injected into the hobby that has never been seen before. Yesteryear’s collectors and this new era of collectors are not built the same. Prices have never been higher, and investment talk has never been more present and taken precedence over everything else associated with cards and memorabilia.
